What legacies have you received and what will you pass on, to leave the world a little better than you found it? In Legacies of the Heart, Meg Newhouse provides an unconventional compass to discover and shape your legacies. She guides us to a more conscious and heart-centered imprinting of our legacies on the memories and values of those we touch and in the material records we leave behind. While a remarkably rich resource, Legacies is not the typical how-to book. Much of its appeal lies in the illustrative personal stories Newhouse tells, her own as well as those of friends, clients, workshop participants, and people in the media. Through her invitation to reflect on these stories, she takes readers on a journey of transformational importance, not only for one generation but also for the generations that follow.

Meg Newhouse's "Legacies of the Heart" is a gentle but firm call to action for our later years. Throughout this book, Meg encourages us to live our lives mindfully and meaningfully. But that is not enough. Besides examining and appreciating the legacies we have received, Meg admonishes us to carefully prepare heartfelt "inheritances" for those we leave behind. Legacies of the Heart Living A Life That Matters edition by Margaret Newhouse SelfHelp eBooks Reviews
Terrific book!
In depth look at Legacy with inspiring stories, expansive view of the dimensions of legacy and numerous resources to draw from.
This is an important and well-written exploration of what we leave behind, redefining and enlarging the definition of legacy. The author uses stories, from her own life and those of others she has worked with over many years, to upend traditional ideas about the riches we pass on to our children.
Legacies of the Heart is a Valentine with lasting significance. Author Meg Newhouse, Ph.D. gifts us with a thought-provoking exploration of the legacies, good and bad, that we have received and that we offer. Packed with moving stories, well-documented research, generous resources, and keen insights, this book will broaden your understanding about leaving a legacy that matters. Contending that enduring legacies are offered intentionally, “from the heart,” Newhouse builds a persuasive case that the indelible imprint of our lives is a living legacy, based on the way we show up for others.
In our fast paced society how often do we ask ourselves deeper questions such as "Do I live a meaningful life? Did I have an impact? How did I make people feel? What kind of legacy will I leave behind?" But the truth is, that in order to lead a regret free, fulfilled life we need to know the answers to these fundamental questions. This way we can start creating meaningful lives today, in the present moment. "The Legacies of the Heart" will guide you in your journey to craft the life that matters most to you!
"Legacies Of The Heart" is a very heart warming presentation of how to live your life so you leave a purposeful, meaningful legacy for generations to come. The writer, Meg Newhouse, is very open about her own struggles in life with things passed down to her and shares authentically how she learned to do the inner work of turning difficulties into positive learning experiences and also how forgiveness is such a huge part of being freed up to move forward with our lives and leave others a legacy from the heart. The many beautiful personal stories illustrate well the points Meg is teaching us. This book is well worth reading.
This is a profound, life changing book. Mrs. Newhouse has understood everyone's hunger for a life that matters, and has given her readers a very rich and thoughtful description of the many ways in which others share their legacies with us, and we can create a legacy that will outlast us by up to seven generations. What impresses me about this book is the way it values people who, to others, would seem to have lived insignificant lives.
My favorite piece in the book is her redefinition of the value of her father's life. Any reader will walk away from this book transformed for the better.
